Pigmentation correction in Anaheim Hills
Pigmentation correction uses laser treatment to reduce sun spots, age spots and uneven skin tone, the patches of darker colour that build up with years of sun. At Epic IV it is performed by a registered nurse after a free consultation, where the first job is working out what kind of pigment you have.

Pigmentation correction at a glance
Dark patches are not all the same. Sun spots and age spots sit in the skin differently from melasma, which is linked to hormones and can be made worse by heat. That is why the consultation starts with a close look at your skin and your history before any laser is recommended.

What pigmentation correction treats
Sun spots and age spots
Flat brown spots on the face, chest, hands and arms that come from years of Southern California sun.
Uneven tone
A blotchy or patchy look across the cheeks and forehead, where colour has built up unevenly.
Sun freckles
Freckles that have darkened or spread with sun exposure.
Melasma
Melasma needs a careful assessment because heat can make it worse. Your clinician will tell you whether laser treatment is right for it.
How laser pigmentation correction works
The laser delivers light energy that is absorbed by the extra pigment in a spot. The pigment breaks up and the body clears it, or it rises to the surface and flakes away, leaving more even skin behind. Treated spots often look darker for a short time before they fade.
Sun exposure made most of these spots, and it can bring new ones. Daily sunscreen is part of keeping the result.
When pigment comes with rough texture or wrinkles, resurfacing with CO2 laser or CoolPeel® treats the surface and the tone together.
