How Long Does Botox Last? When to Book Again | Epic IV

Before and after neuromodulator treatment at Epic IV, frown lines between the brows softened

For most people, Botox® Cosmetic lasts three to four months. You start to see it working within three to seven days, the full result shows at about two weeks, and then movement comes back gradually over the following months until your lines return to where they were. Dysport® follows the same timeline. This post walks through each stage, what changes how long your result lasts, and how to plan your next visit so you are never caught between appointments.

What happens in the first two weeks

Botox and Dysport are neuromodulators: small, precise injections that relax the muscles behind expression lines. They do not work the moment they are injected, because the medicine has to settle into the muscle first.

  • The first hour: small bumps at the injection points settle on their own. There is no downtime, so most people go straight back to their day.
  • The same day: stay upright for a few hours, skip the gym and facials, and do not rub the treated area.
  • Days 3 to 7: the muscles start to relax and the lines that form when you frown, raise your brows or smile begin to soften.
  • About two weeks: the full result is in. This is the right time to judge it, and the point where we book a quick check if you want one.

If you look in the mirror on day two and see no change, that is normal. Give it the full two weeks before you decide anything.

Months one to four: how Botox wears off

Botox does not stop working overnight. Over three to four months the treated muscles gradually regain their movement, so your expression lines come back slowly rather than all at once. Most patients notice it first when they frown or raise their brows in a certain light, and that is usually when they rebook.

Because the change is gradual, nothing about the wearing-off phase looks strange or uneven. Your face simply moves the way it did before treatment.

What decides how long your result lasts

Three to four months is the typical range, not a promise. A few things move it:

  • Your dose. Botox and Dysport are measured in units, and the right number depends on how strong the muscle is. A forehead might take a dozen units in one person and twice that in another. A dose that is too light for a strong muscle fades sooner.
  • The area. Each area is dosed on its own, based on how that muscle moves.
  • Botox or Dysport. Both are botulinum toxin type A and relax muscle the same way. Some patients notice Dysport a day or two sooner, but neither lasts meaningfully longer than the other in most people.

At Epic IV the aim is softer lines with your expressions intact. That means a conservative first dose and a check at two weeks, rather than over-treating on day one.

When to book your next appointment

The simplest plan is to book your next visit about three to four months after the last one, or as soon as you notice your lines starting to come back. Putting the next appointment in your calendar before you leave means a busy month never pushes it back.

If you are planning around an event, count backwards: the full result takes about two weeks to show, so book at least two weeks before the date.

What Botox will not do

Botox softens lines made by movement. It will not soften lines that are there when your face is completely at rest, because those are etched into the skin itself. Those need CO2 laser resurfacing or dermal fillers, and the two are often planned together with Botox. Your nurse will tell you at the consultation which of your lines will respond to Botox and which will not.

Keeping it up without overpaying

If you keep up Botox or Dysport every three to four months, the Epic IV aesthetics membership is built for you. It is $199 a month and takes 10% off tox, 15% off dermal filler and 15% off retail skin care.

New patients can also start with the current specials, which run through December 31, 2026: 50 units of Botox plus a free lip flip for $450, or 45 units for $329. Your exact dose and price are confirmed at your consultation, before anything is injected.

Who treats you

Botox and Dysport at Epic IV are given by our registered nurses, Tiffani Vo, RN and Karina Jacobo, RN, BSN, PHN. Each one watches how your face moves, asks what you want to soften and what you want to keep, and chooses a dose for each area.
